Memberships
How do I join NSBE?
- Visit nsbe.org.
- Click "Join NSBE" in the top-right corner.
- Create an account, select your membership type, and complete the application.
- Select your chapter or choose "At-Large-Member" if you’re not affiliated with a local chapter.

How do I renew my membership?
- Navigate to nsbe.org.
- Click the Login option at the top-right of your screen
- Once you've reached your account homepage, select the Renew button at the top of your screen.
- Select a membership item you would like to renew on the next page.
- Update your personal information if needed.
- Follow the prompts.
- Verify the items in your cart for accuracy. If you selected the wrong membership type, please go back and make your changes as needed before completing payment. Membership payments are non-refundable.
- Submit.
Memberships are valid from August 1 to July 31 annually.
What are the membership fees?
- NSBE Jr.: $5/year.
- Collegiate: $15/year.
- Professional: $50/year.
*International - Individuals living outside of the U.S. and Canada are eligible for all of the membership types at no cost. They must join and continue to renew their membership to remain active.
Can I join NSBE without a local chapter?
Yes, you can join as a Member-at-Large and receive full national benefits. However, joining a chapter helps you stay connected with NSBE at a local level. Find a Chapter Near You!
What is the policy on membership refunds?
Membership payments are non-refundable.
How do I update my account information (e.g., graduation date, password)?
- Update contact information: Log in to your account, go to "Profile", under "My Info" click Change in the section you want to update.
- Update graduation date: Log in to your account, go to "Profile" under "My Info," click on "Education Roster" and make the changes/additions.
- Reset password: Use the "Forgot Password" link on the login page and check your email for the reset link.
Can I get a membership card or proof of membership?
NSBE no longer issues membership cards, but you can request a proof of membership letter by emailing membership@nsbe.org.
What happens if I renew before May 1?
Renewals between May 1 and July 31 extend membership to the next membership cycle (August 1 – July 31 of the following year). If you renew/join before May 1st your membership will expire on July 31st of the current year.
How do I address failed payments?
- Log in to your NSBE account and go to your Profile.
- Click on "Orders" and open the unpaid invoice and complete the payment. You might need to click on All orders to display all.
I am interested in Lifetime Membership, but I do not see an option to pay.
- Navigate to nsbe.org.
- Click the Login option at the top-right of your screen
- Go to your Profile.
- Click on "Upgrade Membership" and then "Upgrade".
- Click on "Lifetime" then "Proceed".
- Now you will need to decide if you want to make 12 consecutive payments - the payment plan or pay in full - $1,200, then click on Select for the payment you would like.
- Click on "Proceed to Payment" and complete the transaction.
If you experience any issues, please email membership@nsbe.org with your Name, email address, and membership ID associated with your account (if applicable). Please also indicate whether you'd prefer to pay for your membership in full or initiate monthly installments. Once these details have been gathered, we will apply an invoice to your account.
I attempted to renew my membership as a collegiate member but was automatically upgraded to a professional membership. How can this be updated.
If you are a collegiate member who attempted to renew your membership which automatically upgraded to professional membership, this means that you did not update your anticipated date of graduation. Please update this information before you request to be reverted to a collegiate member.
Where can I find my membership ID number?
Your member ID number is listed on your Membership Card via your individual profile. Upon logging in, your Membership Card is displayed on the left side of the screen. How to locate your NSBE ID number
Can I purchase a membership subscription for multiple years at a time?
This is not permitted as we only allow members to purchase a subscription one year at a time.
My Membership Card is not populated.
This could be due to you not being affiliated/linked to a specific chapter. Please update your profile with your chapter information. If you are unable to update your chapter, please email membership@nsbe.org with your name, email, NSBE ID, and the chapter you should be affiliated with.
How do I register a group for membership?
Please follow this link to submit your bulk membership form.
IMPORTANT: If any of the submissions do not align with the criteria requested, they will be rejected, leading to delays in member registration. Please ensure all instructions are meticulously followed to complete the process efficiently.
I am a NSBE Jr Advisor, do I need to pay the $5 NSBE Jr. membership fee?
No, chapter advisors are NOT required to register for membership. However, if you believe that registering for membership aligns with your goals and interests, please pay the $50 professional membership fee. If you pay for a NSBE Jr. membership fee as a chapter Advisor, the subscription will be canceled but not refunded. No exceptions.

How do I start or reactivate a chapter?
- Fill out the New Chapter Charter petition form available on the NSBE website. Learn More
- Requirements: At least 5 executive officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Programs Chair) and a faculty advisor (for collegiate chapters).
- NSBE Jr. chapters also require a completed background check for all adults interacting with students.
What are the specific requirements for NSBE Jr. chapters?
- At least 5 members and 5 officers.
- Background checks for all adults interacting with students.
- Advisors must attend monthly NSBE Jr. Advisor meetings.
How do I manage my chapter’s roster?
- Log in to the Chapter Portal via the "My Chapters" tab in your NSBE account.
- Add/remove members and assign roles directly in the portal.
Are advisors required to register for membership?
No, advisors are not required to register but must complete a profile in the NSBE system to manage chapter operations. If you believe that registering for membership aligns with your goals and interests, please pay the $50 professional membership fee. If you pay for a NSBE Jr. membership fee as a chapter Advisor, the subscription will be canceled but not refunded. No exceptions.
How do I address GPA verification issues for my chapter members?
- Chapter advisors can no longer approve GPA’s.
- Members will self-report their GPA on their MyNSBE profile.
- For GPA verification, all members must complete a GPA Verification Form, have it signed by a university advisor, counselor, or an official from the Registrar’s office and e-mail it to scholarships@nsbe.org.
The Office of the Registrar, counselor or a University Advisor MUST sign this form.
What is a Member-at-Large, and can I be one?
Yes, if there is no chapter in your area, you can join as a Member-at-Large. You’ll receive full benefits without chapter affiliation. However, joining a chapter helps you stay connected with NSBE at a local level. Find a Chapter Near You!
The chapter locator tool is not populating chapters in my area. Can you connect me with an active chapter?
Unfortunately, the chapter locator tool is not reliable due to missing data on the back end. Please provide your chapter type (NSBE Jr, Collegiate, Professional), resident city and state so we can provide a list of active chapters in your area.

How do I register for the Annual Convention?
- Ensure your membership is active.

Do I need GPA verification to register for the Annual Convention?
Yes, collegiate members must:
- Self-report their GPA in their NSBE profile.
- Submit a GPA Verification Form signed by a university advisor, counselor, or registrar to scholarships@nsbe.org.

What is the refund policy for registration fees?
How do I apply for an international visa to attend an NSBE event?
- Contact your local embassy for visa requirements.
- NSBE can provide a visa invitation letter if requested via membership@nsbe.org. You must provide your full name, passport number, and country of residence.
